Sourdough Apple Crisp
Ingredients:
8 apples, about 6 cups
1/4 cup coconut sugar
juice of 1/2 a lemon
2 tbsp flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
crumb topping
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup coconut sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/3 cup sourdough discard
6 tbsp browned butter
optional toppings
ice cream
apple cider caramel
Recipe:
Preheat your oven to 350F
Start by dicing apples. Add them to a bowl, along with sugar, lemon juice, flour, salt, and cinnamon. Toss until evenly coated
Transfer the mixture to an 8 or 9 inch baking dish
Next, mix together the crumb topping —flour, oats, sugar, salt, cinnamon, sourdough discard, and browned butter
Mix the topping ingredients together using your hands and crumble on top of the apples
Bake for 45 minutes on the center rack. Top with ice cream and apple cider caramel and enjoy!
