Sourdough Apple Crisp

Ingredients:

  • 8 apples, about 6 cups

  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar

  • juice of 1/2 a lemon

  • 2 tbsp flour

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

crumb topping

  • 1/2 cup flour

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/3 cup sourdough discard

  • 6 tbsp browned butter

optional toppings

  • ice cream

  • apple cider caramel

Recipe:

  • Preheat your oven to 350F

  • Start by dicing apples. Add them to a bowl, along with sugar, lemon juice, flour, salt, and cinnamon. Toss until evenly coated

  • Transfer the mixture to an 8 or 9 inch baking dish

  • Next, mix together the crumb topping —flour, oats, sugar, salt, cinnamon, sourdough discard, and browned butter

  • Mix the topping ingredients together using your hands and crumble on top of the apples

  • Bake for 45 minutes on the center rack. Top with ice cream and apple cider caramel and enjoy!
