Fun Holiday Syrups
Sugar Cookie Syrup
Ingredients:
1 cup golden coconut sugar or cane sugar
1 tbsp coconut sugar or brown sugar
1 cup of water
1 fresh vanilla bean or 2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp almond extract
1/4 tsp salt
Recipe:
In a saucepan over low-medium heat, mix together all of the ingredients
Bring the mixture to a boil, turn the heat to low, and let simmer for 15 minutes—stirring every minute or so
Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool for about 20 minutes
Next, remove the vanilla bean from the pan and transfer the mixture to a pour spout bottle
Enjoy and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks!
Chai Gingerbread Syrup
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 cups coconut or brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
2 cinnamon sticks
1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger
1 tsp ground cloves
3 crushed cardamom pods or 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
3 star anise
Recipe:
Heat a saucepan to low-medium heat. Add in all of the ingredients and stir
Bring the mixture to a boil, then turn the heat to low, and let this simmer for 15 minutes—stirring every minute or so
Turn off the heat and move the pot off the stove. Let the mixture cool for about 20 minutes
Next, strain out the spices and transfer to a pour spout bottle
Enjoy and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks!
